What are we worshiping?
So one quick question, then I am off to bed as its up early for work. All humans were created to worship, you see this when you go to concerts, sporting events and in all other walks of life. We were made to worship one thing, and one thing alone. That is Jesus Christ, our one true savior, the only thing we can worship that will not let us down. All to often we worship other things, set them up in front of Jesus, making them our priority. They then become our "functional saviors", these functional saviors though, will always let us down. So the quick question is, what are you worshiping? What has first priority in your life? If you are so brave, do answer and give a quip synopses of why you are worshiping what your worshiping, if you do not want to answer, just think about it. What is your functional savior? And isn't it time we all put the one true savior on top?

So I did want to post what my functional savior has been lately. I have been struggling at work to stand up for my beliefs and stand out for the things I believe in. I have been worshiping my ability to look "cool" and fit in with my co-workers. I am really, really tired of struggling with this functional savior as I have been frustrated with the amount of blown chances I have had to discuss Jesus and the Bible with them. So I am making the commitment today, when next week roles around, I am going to stand out for my belief in Jesus, and I am going to put Him back on the throne when I am at work. I would appreciate any prayers I could get in this area!
I love your train of thought. We really tend to just go around just doing things not really knowing the reason behind them. Lets use something as simple as shopping I love to shop! I love the whole process of shopping. But what do I get out of it? What am I really achieveing by this randam act. NOTHING! But, If I took that same time and read and study the word, grew closer to our Lord and Savior then I would Have achieved something for my eternity. I would Haae Glorified my Savior. That Makes more sense!

I will pray for you Tim, I have the same struggle with not wanting to stand out in a negative way to others. And many times I don't know what to say until the moment has passed me by, then I think of what to say. Some advice I just heard in a recent sermon was just to go ahead and speak, don't worry about having just the right thing to say. That helped me.
I agree with you Julie. We get so wrapped up in this world, because it is all we know experiencially, but it is fleeting.
The idols that I most easily fall in to worship would be entertainment and comfort.
May we worship only the true Savior, Jesus Christ
